Wicked Wallop – AOS Report

Hi guys! AOS staffer Rafiq here, reporting for the first overseas event of 2024 – The Wicked Wallop.

For this trip, Asep, Deni and Bayu traveled by bus to Singapore, while the boys took a road trip with the trusty Ford Transit and Munir’s Range Rover Classic. We departed on 5th February 2024 around 12:00 noon, stayed in Johor Bahru (JB) for the night, then entered Singapore on 6th February 2024 around 8:00 am and straight to Carros Centre. We (the boys) ended up camping at the event venue with our camping gear, Munir’s Range Rover roof top tent and Padin Musa’s (from Abah & Sons) Nissan van.

2024 is the 9th Edition of Wicked Wallop and was bigger than ever. This year, the event featured more invited International guests from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Japan.

AOS and Mooneyes Malaysia shared a table with ChoppaJoop, one of Singapore’s top master craftsmen. He was the first Singaporean to collaborate with Dice Magazine back in 2012, producing a limited number handcrafted set of belt pouches. You can read more about it here:

Joop also took Asep and family for some sightseeing around Kampong Glam, Arab Street.

One of the highlights of the event was the Miss Pin-Up Competition where participants competed for the title of Miss Pin-Up Wicked Wallop 2024. They flew over our very own Miss Pin-Up Art of Speed 2023, Miss Fathmanny, to the event. Wicked Wallop also invited International Rockabilly band ‘The Hydrant’ from Bali, Indonesia. They were the headliner for Saturday night’s performance.

There was a big gathering from Singapore classic cars and motorcycle groups. Several artists at the Rollie Monkie Live Painting and Commision Kustom Paint came from Indonesia and Malaysia. It was also the first appearance of Mr Gabo from CrankDevil, Japan’s top tattoo and chopper enthusiast.

The Best of Show (car) was Kevin White’s 1959 Chevrolet Impala, with the surfboard on top and unique number plate. It was our AOS pick as well.

We drove back to JB on Sunday 7th January after the event and headed back to KL on Monday 8th January 2024. Along the way back, together with Padin Musa, we stopped at Kee Chup Nasi Ayam to meet the gang from Mutohead for lunch.

AOS would like to give our thanks to Jap Loh, the founder of The Wicked Wallop, for his kind hospitality and awesome event!
